Supper, People on the Move is an examination of the human experience of all people on the move, looking for new horizons. Physical bodies moving between physical places define migration, and the immigrant journey is at the heart of humanity’s ability to survive. From this rich and fertile history Cardell creates evocative forms of movement—abstract, personal, universal—performed by virtuosic dancers, who dance with unrelenting physicality and create striking moments of beauty.

Free public screening of Supper, People on the Move, video broadcasted at Independence National Historical Park, projected on a large screen: June 26 at 8pm (rain date: June 27at 8pm).

Cardell Dance Theater is a professional ensemble that explores the dynamic exchange between visual art and dance. The company is led by choreographer Silvana Cardell.  Cardell’s personal story of moving her family from Argentina to a new life, home, and, after along road, citizenship in the United States, inspired her to seek out other migration stories and to create Supper, People on the Move.

Major support for Supper, People on the Move has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. Supper is being developed in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, Independence National Historical Park, and the Crane Arts Building’s Icebox. Supper has also received Swarthmore Project: Time and Space for Dance Residencies and a Georgian Court University Summer Research grant.
